If your organization has enabled Single Sign On (SSO) on Synatic, registered users will be able to log in using their email and password directly on Synatic, or a third-party provider like Okta, Duo, Azure AD, etc. Users MUST have a Synatic account, even if they will only be using a third-party service to log in. They cannot register from a third party. Please get in touch with your account manager to register any users who require access. Once you have been added to the org, follow these steps to enable logging in SSO.
1. Set a Password for your Synatic
Users with New Synatic Accounts
Even though you will not necessarily need it to log in, you still need to set up a password in order to link your SSO account to your Synatic account. You will receive a welcome email that looks like this:
Click on the Activate Account button and follow the instructions. If you are a new user, you will be asked to set a new password. For users who already have a Synatic account (perhaps from a different organization), you will be redirected to the login page for the new org. There is no need to reset your password. Once you have a Synatic password, you can start the account Linking process.
2. Initiate Account Linking
You can initiate the account linking in one of two ways.
- Initiate account linking from the Synatic login screen
- Initiate account linking from your SSO provider
You only need to complete steps 2.1 or 2.2, not both.
2.1 Initiate Account Linking from the Synatic Login Screen
A typical Synatic login screen (without SSO-enabled login) looks like the image below. It only allows the user to log in using their username and password.
For SSO-enabled organizations, there is an additional button that allows users to log in using an external provider. In the example below, users can opt to log in using Uno Security (This could also be Okta or some other provider), in addition to being able to log in using a username and password. To log in using SSO, click the button for your SSO provider.
2.2 Initiating Account Linking from your SSO Provider
You can also get to the linking screen by selecting the Synatic app from your SSO provider application screen. This will log you in and then redirect you to the Synatic account linking screen.
3. Complete the Account Linking
When logging in via SSO for the first time, you will be asked to link your SSO account to your Synatic account (See screenshot below). Click on Continue to start the account linking process.
You will be redirected to a login screen where you can verify that you are the owner of the Synatic account (Like the screenshot below). On this login screen, you should provide your Synatic credentials (Not the credentials of your SSO provider). Note that the Synatic email you specify here should be the same as the email you use to log into your SSO provider account. Provide the credentials and then click continue to complete the process.
If the Synatic credentials are accepted, the SSO and Synatic accounts will be linked, and you will be automatically logged in.
Click Continue to proceed to Synatic.
Account linking is a one-off process. All subsequent logins will not require verification of your Synatic credentials.
